# Keyboard shortcuts

Source: https://docs.tai.ga/start/keyboard-shortcuts/

Shortcuts that name **Cmd/Ctrl** use the Command key on a Mac and Control everywhere else.
Either works on either keyboard.
A shortcut written as one key **then** another is pressed as a sequence, not held together:
press the first, let go, then press the second within a second.

Shortcuts made of letters alone, the go-to sequences among them, never fire while you are typing in a field.
Cmd/Ctrl+K, Cmd/Ctrl+B and Cmd/Ctrl+J work from anywhere, and the editor's shortcuts work inside the editor.
The sidebar rows, the sidebar's edge, the editor's toolbar buttons and the board's Clear selection button show their shortcut when you pause the pointer on them.

## Anywhere

| Keys | Does |

| Cmd/Ctrl+B | Hides the sidebar, or brings it back. |
| Cmd/Ctrl+J | Opens a new [product chat](https://docs.tai.ga/agents/product-chat/), or puts it away. |
| G then I | Goes to your inbox. |
| G then J | Goes to the Agent page. |
| G then H | Goes to the dashboard of the product you are in. |
| G then B | Goes to Initiatives in the product you are in. |
| G then R | Goes to Runs in the product you are in. |
| G then D | Goes to Deployments in the product you are in. |
| G then M | Goes to Maintaining in the product you are in. |
| G then O | Goes to Monitoring in the product you are in. |
| G then C | Goes to Documents in the product you are in. |

A go-to shortcut for a place in a product, pressed on that place or anywhere outside a product, asks which product instead:
the command palette opens on a list of your products, grouped by team, with the team you are in first.
If the product you are in is on the list, it is selected, so Enter keeps it.
Pick one and you land on that place in that product.
While a product is in Discovery, Discovery is its dashboard, and no other place in it is there yet.
Every other go-to shortcut asks which product instead, and its list leaves out the products still in Discovery.
The inbox and the Agent page are one per organization, so their shortcuts always go straight there.

## On a page that opens from a list

| Keys | Does |
| ---- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Esc | Goes back to the list the page came from. |

This works on an initiative, a run, a deployment, a finding, a document and a questionnaire.

## In the inbox

| Keys | Does |
| ----- | ----------------------------------- |
| J | Moves to the next item. |
| K | Moves to the previous item. |
| Enter | Opens the item. |
| ? | Shows these shortcuts in the inbox. |

The arrow keys move between items too.

## On the Initiatives board

| Keys | Does |
| --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Enter | Opens the initiative. |
| X | Selects the initiative, or clears its selection. |
| J | Moves to the next initiative. |
| K | Moves to the previous initiative. |
| Shift+J | Extends the selection to the next initiative. |
| Shift+K | Extends the selection to the previous initiative. |
| Cmd/Ctrl+Down | Jumps to the last initiative on the board. |
| Cmd/Ctrl+Up | Jumps to the first initiative on the board. |
| Option/Alt+Down | Moves the initiative, or the selection, one place down. |
| Option/Alt+Up | Moves the initiative, or the selection, one place up. |
| Option/Alt+Shift+Down | Moves the initiative, or the selection, to the bottom of its group. |
| Option/Alt+Shift+Up | Moves the initiative, or the selection, to the top of its group. |
| Esc | Clears the selection; pressed again, leaves the board's keyboard mode. |

Space selects like X, and the arrow keys move like J and K.
Moving an initiative with the keyboard is the same move as dragging it.

## In Runs, Deployments, Maintaining and Documents

| Keys | Does |
| ------------- | -------------------------------- |
| J | Moves to the next row. |
| K | Moves to the previous row. |
| Cmd/Ctrl+Down | Jumps to the last row. |
| Cmd/Ctrl+Up | Jumps to the first row. |
| Esc | Leaves the list's keyboard mode. |

The arrow keys move like J and K, and Enter opens the row.
The keys move across every open group, and start from the row under the pointer.
In Documents they skip a document that has not been generated yet, since there is nothing to open.
When you open a row and come back, the row you opened is still marked.
They work in the run list, the deployment lists, and the finding and policy lists.
In Runs, the run the keys land on also shows when it started, or when it was queued if it has not started.

## In a document editor

| Cmd/Ctrl+I | Italic. |
| Cmd/Ctrl+U | Underline. |
| Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+X | Strikethrough. |
| Cmd/Ctrl+E | Inline code. |
