Inbox
Your Inbox is yours alone: what someone decided about the initiatives you own or follow, and how they ended. You follow the initiatives you create or are assigned, and any you subscribe to. What waits on you has a page of its own, Action required, below Inbox in the app’s sidebar.
What reaches your Inbox
Section titled “What reaches your Inbox”As an initiative’s assignee, you hear that it was assigned to you; that someone moved, archived or restored it, approved or rejected its plan, or cleared its stop; and that its pull request merged.
As a follower, you hear who it is assigned to, that its pull request merged, and that someone moved it to Done or Canceled.
The line’s own progress is not news here: its moves, a plan landing, a build starting, finishing or failing, a pull request opening. Read it on the initiative’s page. What asks something of you, such as a plan waiting for your verdict, is in Action required. Your own changes never mark a notification unread.
One row per initiative
Section titled “One row per initiative”Each initiative is one row: its name, and under it what happened last. Later events fold into the same row rather than stacking up. Pick a row to open the initiative beside the list, as its own page shows it, with its block and assignee at the top and the rest of its details one click away. The address bar then shows the initiative’s own link, so a link you copy and share opens the initiative’s page. J and K move between rows and open each one as they reach it. The list and the initiative each scroll on their own. Drag the line between them to make the list wider or narrower; the list is wider in a wider window, and your browser remembers the width you leave it at for each. In a narrow window the list takes the whole width: J and K move between rows, Enter or a click opens the initiative in the list’s place, and Esc or Back to inbox returns to the list.
Yours, not the team’s
Section titled “Yours, not the team’s”Opening a notification marks it read for you only, and Mark all as read, in the menu above the list, marks every notification you can see read; a snoozed one comes back as it was. Mark one unread from its menu, or from the open notification, to come back to it, or press U to mark the open one read or unread. Show unreads only, also above the list, lists only what you have not read; a row you read there stays until you turn it off and on again or leave the page, and your browser remembers the choice. Snooze one to hide it for an hour, until tomorrow, or a week; it also comes back as soon as something new happens to it. Unsubscribe, from a row or from the open notification, to stop following that initiative: nothing more about it reaches you, and what already did stays in your Inbox. As its assignee, you still hear what it asks of you. The count beside Inbox in the sidebar is what you have not read yet; what waits on you is counted beside Action required.
Email when something needs you
Section titled “Email when something needs you”Taiga emails you when an initiative assigned to you is waiting on you: when the work on it stops and needs a person, when its plan is ready and waits for your approval before anything is built, when its pull request is ready for your review, and when it is assigned to you. Your own actions never send one. The email names the product and links to the initiative.
This email is off until you turn it on with Email me when something needs me, under Email in your notification settings. Notifications about initiatives you only follow do not arrive by email.
